The Victorian Bands League in partnership with Skunkworks Community Limited operates the Victorian State Youth Brass Band.
The Band is open to young brass and percussion musicians up to the age of 25 and promotes and inspires young people to develop their musical talents to their fullest ability.
The Victorian State Youth Brass Band brings together and develops our best young brass and percussion musicians to ensure the continued vibrancy of our community and professional performing arts sector.

Aspiring musicians of all ages and abilities are invited to join us for a week of fun and music in the beautiful Victorian Alps. Held each January at the Bright Chalet this week long music camp includes accommodation, meals and expert musical tuition in a fun group environment. Develop your ensemble playing and showcase your achievements at the Bright Summer Camp Concert.
Each year the VSYBB will be involved in an Anzac commemoration project.
In 2021 we carried out "The Last Post" project which raised money for the veterans charity MATES4MATES.
In 2022 the VSYBB performed at a special event to commemorate all those who have served. Supported by the City of Boroondara this event was held on Sunday 6th November 2022 to coincide with Remembrance Day.
VSYBB members will have opportunites to workshop with and attend master classes with worldclass musicians.
The tour will depart from the Spirit of Tasmania terminal, Geelong, on Saturday 16th of September at 8:30am. Upon arrival in Tasmania we will board our buses to begin our tour. We will be visiting our friends at City Of Burnie Brass Band, Launceston City Band and Ulverston Municipal Band in the north then Glenorchy City Brass Inc. in the south! We will take in some sight-seeing as well. Return overnight sailing will be on Friday 22nd September departing 9:30pm with arrival in Geelong at approximately 7:30am Saturday morning 23rd September.
Each year the VSYBB will stage their annual concert at a major venue. Featuring high profile guest artists and soloists, the annual concert provides an opportunity to work and perform with professional artists in a professional production.
The VSYBB will rehearse on a regular basis with rehearsals taking place in Melbourne and regional Victoria to give everyone an equal opportunity to be a part of the VSYBB.
There will also many opportunities for performances and events such as the Alpine Brass Festival (Bright, Vic), performance at the National Competitions in Bendigo, State competitions in Ballarat, Band Stand Sunday in Federation Square (Melb). etc. A full program for the VSYBB for 2022 will be announced in due course.
What a FANTASTIC day at the Rotary International conference in Bendigo!
The Victorian State Youth Brass Band performed to a very receptive audience at Ulumbarra Theatre and then popped on over to Rosalind Park, for an outdoor concert for the conference participants.
VSYBB congratulates our members who competed in the Australian National Championships who through their hard work, dedication and with great courage, entered into both Junior and Open sections at the 2024 Australian National Band Championships. We're proud of every one of you!
